While side-byside models are more suitable for siblings of similar age, tandem lightweight double strollers have their own appeal. They tend to be more spacious and simple to get in and out of, although their baskets are typically smaller than those on single buggies. Its fabric feels a bit less luxurious than our other top-rated tandems, however, it still looks and feels great and is user-friendly. Its one-handed folding is impressive. Although it takes some time to master, Kirstie from our Lab called it "genius". The carrycot can't be folded when it is attached. The biggest drawback of this kind of buggy is that it is generally larger overall than the side-by-side doubles and makes it difficult to get through doorways and can be difficult to maneuver around kerbs. However, the wheels and suspension on these types of strollers generally are capable of handling paved surfaces, and the fact that they're usually significantly lighter than the side-by-sides, means you still find plenty of storage space. It's important to remember that these strollers aren't as adept at walking through the narrow aisles of supermarkets and can struggle to handle a large amount of shopping.
